WoW: Patch 9.2 – all information about the content

All information about the upcoming patch 9.2 Eternity’s End in World of Warcraft can be found here.

The next patch for World of Warcraft is slowly approaching us. Patch 9.2 Eternity’s End will be the finale of the Shadowlands plot and probably the last update before the new expansion. So that you know exactly what is in store for you, we have created this article, which contains all the details about the patch.

  • Patch 9.2 will be the final major patch for Shadowlands
  • There is no official release date for Patch 9.2 yet, probably March 2022
  • The story takes place in the new Zereth Mortis area
  • The new raid “Sepulcher of the First Ones” will contain 11 bosses

When will patch 9.2 be released? There is currently no official release date for patch 9.2 “End of Eternity”. Speculations assume a release in late February to early March 2022. So it will be a while before the new content goes into effect.

New area: Zereth Mortis

The heart of the patch is the new Zereth Mortis area. This is where the Jailer disappeared at the end of the “Sanctum of Domination” raid. Zereth Mortis is the place where “the first” have their workshop, so to speak. There the different shadowlands were created and entrusted with their tasks. This also means that in Zereth Mortis you can see a lot of creatures in their seemingly mechanical original state, before the beings were given more precise forms.

A special feature of Zereth Mortis is the progression system. Instead of filling a reputation bar, players must first learn the language of the residents there. The Automa based in Zereth Mortis speak in a kind of mechanical singsong. Therefore, players must first understand this rune-like language, the “cipher of the first”, in order to be able to interact properly with these creatures. This gradually unlocks new content, more quests and more story.

The story of patch 9.2 – we know that so far

The armed forces of the Korthia Jailer have moved on to Zereth Mortis. The goal of Zovaal is now to conquer the forge there in order to kill the planet Azeroth and thus to set in motion a process that redesigns the rules of the universe. Quite “on the side”, of course, the players try to free Anduin in order to make use of his knowledge of the runes of domination and to redeem him from his current state.

How exactly all this works, we will probably only find out with the PTR. This story is likely to be resolved later when the final cinematics are known. That will probably only be the case a few weeks after the patch has been released.

New raid: Sepulcher of the First Ones

Sepulcher of the First Ones will be the final raid of Shadowlands. A whopping 11 bosses are waiting to be defeated by the players. The raid opens in 2 stages, as it tells 2 different stories. The first 8 bosses will be released at the same time, the last 3 will follow in the following weeks. This was done to show the passage of time between the two raid parts.

Accordingly, the final boss of the first section will be the fight against Anduin Wrynn. But it is also interesting that we meet Xy’mox again. We last met him in Castle Nathria, where he wanted to plunder the treasures of Denathrius. He will probably be planning something similar in the sepulcher. The final boss is – not surprisingly – the fight against Zovaal, the jailer. He tries to destroy Azeroth.

New content – what’s in Patch 9.2?

In addition to Zereth Mortis and Sepulcher of the First Ones, there is a whole range of new content and the return of familiar features. We want to introduce them to you here briefly.

Return of the tier sets: With patch 9.2 there is again a tier set for each class, including associated set bonuses. This time, however, the sets cannot only be earned in a raid. Players should also be able to enjoy these set items via PvP and “Mythic +”. This will make it possible to earn the coveted sets in other game content as well.

Two legendary items at the same time: The possibility of being able to carry two legendary items on your character at the same time is also great. However, this is subject to certain restrictions, which we have explained to you in more detail here. In short, this means that you can only combine one Covenant Legendary with another Legendary of your choice.

It is also important to know that Patch 9.2 brings with it a belt whose legendary power changes with every covenant change. So you can put the covenant legendary on a belt and freely switch pacts without losing the right effect or having to manage a lot of equipment.

More little things from patch 9.2

In addition to all the highlights and improvements, there are of course a number of small things that are improved with the new update. These are not necessarily particularly big changes that are presented as a “selling point”, but are important for many a player. Here are some of the smaller improvements that will be made in Patch 9.2:

  • Warlocks can finally summon an incubus and give their succubus a well-deserved vacation. From a purely visual point of view, the incubus is in no way inferior to the succubus.

Apart from that, there are numerous new pets, mounts and toys.

What do you think of Patch 9.2? Do you like what is known about the patch so far? Or are you dissatisfied with what has been shown so far? While 9.2 is still only expected, it’s time to play New World or Elder Scrolls Online.
