When Assassin’s Creed Valhalla started, PC users noticed that the game has no achievements. It looked like a bug, because on consoles, achievements have not gone away! But this is not a bug, but a feature — Ubisoft refuses to “achivok” on the PC in their usual form.
As representatives of the company explained on the official forum, instead of achievements, Ubisoft is going to focus on tests — they pump up your profile and provide rewards within the Ubisoft Connect platform. Both in Valhalla and in future Ubisoft games on PC, there will only be an extended test system.Interestingly, recently Ubisoft quietly combined both options for rewards: achievements and challenges were simultaneously, say, in Far Cry 5 and, as gamers report, in the very fresh Watch Dogs: Legion. Challenges differ from achievements with regular updates in the spirit of “dailies” in online games.
Users reacted to the news very sharply. On the Ubisoft forum, they started complaining that it just looks stupid — there are no achievements on the PC, but for some reason they were left on the consoles. In addition, some write that the tests are too simple and thoughtless, while others wonder why Ubisoft simply did not leave the “achivki” within the tests. The top discussion on Reddit is also a complete disappointment.
Recall that at the end of October, Ubisoft arranged a restart of Uplay-now it is called Ubisoft Connect. Apparently, experimenting with achievements on a PC is part of the updated service.
