The transmog Destiny 2 system itself has been a source of constant criticism over the past few months. However, it seems that some changes may occur. It would be nice if you remember, transmog was introduced back in May as part of their season, the Season of the Splicer. However, it has since received significant backlash for its implementation and cost of use.And it seems that Bungee is well aware of this criticism. In their latest Bungie newsletter this week, they announced some changes that will occur in transmog with season 15.
“Starting with season 15, we will abandon the passively earned Synthstrand world currency, which was used to buy armor synthesis rewards from Ada-1. Instead, these rewards can be purchased for 10,000 twinkles.”
And, if you don’t already know, Synthstrand, Synthcord and Synthweave are all the resources you need for a transmog called Armor Synthesis. All these resources first appeared in the Season of the Splicer. To transform, you will need to purchase all three.
However, flicker is an in-game currency that you can find anywhere in the game, doing almost anything. This change in the currency requirements for transmog will undoubtedly ease some of the frustrations. As Bungie notes,
“We hope that this change will reduce the time it takes to get 10 Synthweave tokens per class each season.Removing this currency also frees up space in the inventory basket of consumables — a basket that can be filled for those of you who carry a large number of items with you. Finally, we hope that this change will reduce the complexity of the armor synthesis system, while only one currency will remain for each class, which can be immediately exchanged for the Synthweave token on the Ada-1 loom.”
Of course, many players may still wonder why transmog requires costs in the first place, when such systems were free in almost all other games that have transmog.
