Well, Grinding Gear Games advertised more than 265,000 simultaneous players at the launch of its latest expansion, Path of Exile: Echoes of the Atlas. This cemented the game as the most successful expansion to date and pushed POE to the 4th most popular game on steam at launch.
When you manage to exceed your expectations, as Grinding Gear Games did with their latest expansion, you deserve to blow your own horn a little. With the latest expansion for Path of Exile, nearly 800,000 unique viewers tuned in to check out the echoes of Atlas ‘ debut live broadcast. The team also stated that the number of players was 11% higher than their next most successful launch, Delirium, which came out back in March 2020. Chris Wilson, co-founder of Grinding Gear Games, spoke about the exceptional numbers and the reaction they saw to the expansion, stating::
“Echoes of Atlas has been the most successful expansion of the Path of Exile so far. We are so excited to still be setting new player count records after more than 30 quarterly league releases since 2013. This shows us that our development methodologies are moving in the right direction as we work towards completing Path of Exile 2.”
