So, the Fall of Babylon was showcased yesterday during the Square Enix Presents demo at E3 2021, and the co-op battle game from developer Nier PlatinumGames didn’t disappoint, except for the news that it’s now a live-action game.
During the broadcast, the trailer shows the action RPG itself, with combat reminiscent of the recent Neir PG assault rifles hacking and slashing across the map. The story still seems to focus on the city of Neo-Babylon, and while it doesn’t reveal too much beyond what we already knew, it still catches the eye with a combination of biblical references to Babylon and PlatinumGames ‘ storytelling talent. However, the news that the fall of Babylon will actually become a live service may come as a blow to some, especially after the failure of another live service of Squenix, Marvel’s Avengers. PlatinumGames states that the Fall of Babylon will receive regular updates in the form of content and more. However, it is noted that the game modes are planned to be released for free.
A four-player co-op date has yet to be set, though a closed beta is currently underway, and registration is now available live to give you a taste of the Fall of Babylon. The game is scheduled to be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
