The NPD report tells about US retail video game software, and that hardware trade for March has begun. The data contains digital figures from involved publishers, but majority of them are restricted to retail yet.

General expense has declined by 11% in March, amounting to $1.2 billion. Software, hardware, game cards and accessories all have been declined during the month. Although February went well, the drop in spending in March induced the first quarter to decline by 2%.

It mostly depends on drops in hardware sales, which are anticipated at the end of the running generation of consoles.
