There is news that looks quite strange after two years of negotiations between Cloud Imperium Games and Crytek. Star Citizen developers have purchased a lifetime license to use the CryEngine engine to continue developing the space simulator.
Many will be able to recall that CIG and Crytek for two years from 2017 to 2019 were in endless lawsuits for ownership of the copyright to the CryEngine engine. The trials ended in May 2019, when it was decided that both sides should find a different approach to the situation. Apparently, the solution to the problem was the purchase of a permanent license to use CryEngine.
