New survival RPG Tribes of Midgard

New survival RPG Tribes of Midgard

The upcoming Viking game Tribes of Midgard recently revealed initial information about the gameplay and the content of the first season “The Wolf Saga”. Find out what crazy ideas the developers have come up with for events and rune upgrades – one of which encourages you to wear little.

Wait, do I really have to be naked? You don’t “have to”, but in the first season of Tribes of Midgard there is a bonus for every empty armor slot of your character. At least with the corresponding “rune” – one of the systems with which the survival RPG should remain exciting. The developers revealed this in new information about the game, for which new gameplay was also shown in the video.

We already know that about the gameplay: In a recently released new video, Community Manager Sydnee McLeod finally talks about further gameplay features from the upcoming survival MMO Tribes of Midgard. So the game is supposed to have two basic modes:

  • Saga mode: A session game mode in which you go out with a group of friends and have a few hours of fun, in this mode there are saga quests and exclusive season loot
  • Survival mode: A kind of sandbox MMO mode in which you build a village together with friends, explore the world and fend off attacks from monsters and giants.

In addition, in the end it seems to play a role how warm you dress, because the developers mentioned on their blog that the eternal Fimbulwinter is approaching and it is getting cold. How does that get along with the nudity bonus?

We know that about the classes: There will be 8 classes at launch, but only two of them will be available immediately. The rest must be unlocked. One of the two starting classes is the ranger, a long-range fighter. You can then develop your hero further using a complex skill tree.

Nudity runes and Gockel event – this is how the Tribes of Midgard is shot

This is how the runes work: You can upgrade your heroes by equipping them with equipment. But there are also runes that give additional bonuses.

A rune lets you do more damage against giants, while another rune prevents you from losing all “souls” when you die. These souls are important to strengthen the world tree sapling, among other things. In addition, this is an indication that one must take sensitive loss in death.

Particularly funny, however, is the rune mentioned at the beginning, which gives you bonuses for every empty armor slot. That means in the final interpretation that you will become an absolutely terrifying berserker if you go into battle naked! According to the community manager, you should get a random selection of runes every session in Saga mode.

This is what the events are all about: In Saga mode you fight particularly powerful bosses with friends and the first of them is chained to a cave at the beginning. But to find and defeat him, you have to do events in the world. They are all quite original, especially the event Ragnarök .

Because it was prophesied that the crowing of the three legendary roosters Gullinkambi, Fjalar and a third, nameless rooster would be the first sign of the approach of the twilight of the gods. But what if you silenced them beforehand?

Other events revolve around kidnapping victims of black albums or a meeting with a legendary stag. So if you have fun with Nordic mythology, you will get your money’s worth here.

This is what you can expect in the seasons

In addition to the regular gameplay, there should be regular special seasons that are limited in time. Various additional features are available while a season is running. Using the example of the first season “The Wolf Saga”, these are among others:

  • New classes
  • Exclusive loot
  • Special saga bosses
  • Cute little pets

These things are all exclusive to the current season, so if you miss one, you may never get a certain item again.

When does it start? The first season “Wolf Saga” starts with the launch on July 27, 2021. There will be a mid-season update in September and season 2 will continue in November. This season also has a mid-season update two months later in January 2022. As a result, something in the game should change every two months. Tribes of Midgard will be available on July 27, 2021 for PC (Steam), PlayStation 4 and PS5.
