The new Avengers game won’t require online play, as it was confirmed by developer Crystal Dynamics. While Marvel’s Avengers will let players team up online to complete missions, it is still optional and the title will still let people enjoy it solo if they’d prefer.
A Word From Crystal Dynamics
“We want somebody to be able to go buy a disc and never have to go online,” said Amos. “You don’t have to. You can have a complete experience and have fun.”
“There’s all this cool new stuff that’s coming, all these new heroes, you have to go online for that stuff. That’s how it’s going to work.” He adds “we want people to be able to play together and go on this journey, but we also want to say if you want to over-invest in your characters and customise them, you’ve got it”, added Amos, touching upon the topic of microtransactions for some cosmetic items in the game.
Despite the lukewarm reception Marvel’s Avengers received after its official reveal at E3, it’ll be exciting to see how the game will turn out — especially after Crystal Dynamics managed to assemble a stellar creative team behind the scenes, including directors from Naughty Dog and EA, as well as talents who worked on God of War, Halo and Call of Duty.
