It looks like Cyberpunk 2077 will return to Sony’s PlayStation Store in six months. The history of the console debut of Cyberpunk 2077 by this point is quite well known. Sony took the game down shortly after its disastrous debut, and it has remained off that platform ever since. In fact, at the end of last month, we reported that Cyberpunk 2077 may actually remain out of the Sony store for some time yet. Adam Kiczynski noted that at the time, the decision actually depended on Sony,
“We are still in discussions, and with each patch the game gets better and there is noticeable progress, but as we said, the decision is an exclusive decision of Sony, so we are waiting for information that they have made the decision to bring this game back. Until then, I can’t tell you any more.”
It turns out that the time has come. IGN previously reported that Cyberpunk 2077 may indeed be returning to Sony’s digital shelves soon. They noted that the game is now searchable and appears in the store. However, you can’t actually buy or download it. CD Projekt, however, confirmed the return of its latest action RPG to Sony’s shelves in a report. They note,
“In connection with the Current Report No. 66/2020 of December 18, 2020, the Board of CD PROJEKT S. A., with its registered office in Warsaw, hereby publicly discloses the decision of Sony Interactive Entertainment to restore the availability of the digital edition of Cyberpunk 2077 on the PlayStation Store from June 21, 2021.”
Sony also provided a statement to IGN, noting that users may still experience performance issues.:
“SIE can confirm that Cyberpunk 2077 will be re-listed on the PlayStation Store from June 21, 2021. Users will continue to experience performance issues with the PS4 release, while CD Projekt Red continues to improve stability across all platforms. SIE recommends playing the game on a PS4 Pro or PS5 for a better experience.”
