More recently, Microsoft’s Project xCloud game streaming Service is finally adding touch control capabilities to games, starting with Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
Katherine Gluckstein, project Manager at xCloud, confirmed that Ninja Theory is a developer who worked on touch controls for Hellblade earlier this year, and program Manager Aric Cohen announced the release of a touch version in the new Game Stack segment
“Is this the main thing that players who use streaming game previews are asking for? Touch control, ” Cohen says. They want to enable touch mode for games. They want to be able to play their games not only when they have a controller with them, but also when they only have a phone. They want to be able to play their favorite games and make them available at any time.
We are very happy that the first game with touch controls is now in the preview of the streaming game: Hellblade. You can play it using the touch adapter. It’s natural, it uses cloud features to have the right layout depending on where you are in the game, and it really gives the impression that you can continue to play this great game anywhere.”
In addition to Hellblade, many other studios are also working on creating touch controls in their games for xCloud, so expect to see more features in the coming months.
