For Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt RED has released a fix for PC and PS4 that addresses epilepsy triggers and more.
If you remember these triggers, they were noticed by Game Informer earlier this week, especially in the braindance segments. CDPR even responded that they would include a separate warning and work on a more permanent solution. In the PC launch version, this separate warning existed on the first day.
In some places, this fix addresses quests, as well as some performance that includes crash fixes, in addition to PC-and console-specific fixes and improvements. Modified the flashing effect on the brain to reduce the risk of epileptic symptoms. The effect was smoothed out, and the flashes decreased in frequency and magnitude.
Liana Ruppert of Game Informer, author of the original trigger article, responded in kind. She explained that she had been talking to CDPR since her original article in addition to the Foundation’s epilepsy regarding the fix. In her updated article, she writes:,
“This is a huge win for both the industry and gamers, because these changes to make games safer should not mean complete removal, as many assume. This is a job I’ve been doing for many years, and to see studios respond productively and kindly means absolute peace.”
