Final Fantasy 7 Remake Is Big; Possibly as Big as Other Final Fantasy Games

As the fan beloved Final Fantasy VII Remake is about to hit the market on April 10th, Square Enix has unveiled an interview with game developers bringing some clarifying  details about the upcoming release.

Here are same key notes from Interview:

Game co-director Naoki Hamaguchi said, that remake has been “designed as if it were a standalone game, and comparable in size to other mainline Final Fantasy games.” But (Yes, There is a big BUT), remake only covers Midgar(Midgar is the capital city and power base of the Shinra Electric Power Company in the world of Gaia), which only is a small part of a original FF VII, what this means is that remake brings significant expansion of content.

As Game producer Yoshinori Kitase said, remake is an attempt to expand Midgar beyond its boundaries. Since original FF VII had technological limitations game devs had to reuse parts of the map to make the world around the player complete and experience more continuous, This was true for capital city Midgar and also its neighborhoods.

One of the big moments of the interview was the confirmation of an endgame content in a upcoming remake. Also adding one more playable character, although – Red XII will not have full character progression for now. According to game developers this, does not mean that new race will not get fully realized in future.

This remake promises to be a big one, tho it is not immediately clear if Square Enix is planning on releasing remake that is similar in length to their mainline FF games.
