Destiny 2: Forsaken PS4-exclusive weapon accidentally went live on PC and Xbox due to some bug

Destiny 2

This week’s Destiny 2 patch reaches to us with an unexpected change.

Wavesplitter, the PS4-exclusive Exotic trace gun, is now available on PC, and Xbox One. PS4 exclusive content usually keeps locked for a year to Sony’s platform, before Bungie reveals it to everyone else.

Since Wavesplitter launched with Forsaken last September, this was certainly an error. Securing one, however, was tricky, because it was only available through Xur. And, since Bungie instantly became informed of the bug, players had a limited time to buy it from Xur just before the weekly rest comes.

Some unavoidably managed to do so. Though this bug may look accidental, there is a probable reason of why it happened. This week’s Destiny 2 patch added Forsaken Exotics to Fated Engrams’ pool. Fated Engrams are bought from Xur, and since Wavesplitter can be count as a Forsaken Exotic, it became a possible drop, consequently this is why some could nab it.

Bungie is “fixing” the issue, that was confirmed by Cozmo on the official forums. For now, players who own Wavesplitter is still able to use it. But when the fix will be applied, they can’t equip it – but it won’t go from their stash.
