Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night’s release brings a $10 DLC pack with a bunch of new characters, modes and cosmetics as free post-launch updates, as it was announced.
A variety of modes will be available to please every player’s demand: Chaos mode, Classic mode, a “roguelike mode,” online and local co-op play and also two extra characters.
The DLC, called Iga’s Back Pack will also offer the Swordwhip weapon and an in-game Koji Igarashi himself to fight, both were originally offered only to backers of the crowd-funded game. Then developers decided to make it available to everyone, after backers confirmed, they don’t mind if it sells “at a price that would respect the purchase the backers originally made.”
Igarashi Doesn’t Want The Game To Be Pirated
As Igarashi stated, the main reason of selling the content wasn’t about making money, but to reduce the chances of pirating. So, he wanted to ensure “everyone had a safe and legitimate way to get the full game experience.”
“As someone who’s pirated games because of bull**** anti-consumer practices, or as a demo to try and then buy (something largely made obsolete by modern refund systems), I wanted to eliminate as many reasons to pirate Bloodstained as possible.
I understand that not everyone will be 100% happy with this decision, but hopefully this helps in understanding the reasoning behind it. And of course all backers entitled to this content will receive the DLC for free.”
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night launches June 18 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, and June 25 on Nintendo Switch.
