Blizzard postpones Overwatch 2 and Diablo IV

The news of the postponement of the long-awaited Blizzard titles Diablo IV and Overwatch 2 caught fans off guard. But what do you think about it?

What’s the situation with Diablo IV and Overwatch 2? In the latest “Investor Earnings Call”, Blizzard spoke about the situation of its upcoming projects. The two long-awaited Diablo IV and Overwatch 2 projects have been postponed to an unknown time.

A release is now expected in 2023 at the earliest. The hopes of playing a new Blizzard blast in 2022 are likely to have finally been dashed.

New Blizzard hits will come in 2023 at the earliest

What were the expectations? This is particularly bitter because promising information about the two titles has been published again and again recently.

So there were already various heroes and hideous monsters to see for Diablo IV. The developers also showed how the disgusting sound effects in the game came about.

Overwatch 2 was strongly expected to be released in 2022, as, according to a message from Blizzard, the upcoming esports season should already use elements from Overwatch 2.

Why is Blizzard postponing the games? Apparently the development of the two titles is not yet in a state that justifies a release in the coming months. Rather, the shifts are probably necessary to guarantee the desired quality of the two games.

For many fans this is of course only little consolation. Because after all the scandals and upheavals at Blizzard, positive news about the imminent release of a new AAA game would certainly have smoothed the waves and sprayed new hope.

But overall it may be a good thing that Blizzard is playing it safe with its two big new projects and giving the games more time.

Do you think the shift is basically ok or can you just shake your head? In addition to the postponement of the two games, Blizzard does not come to rest. Jen Oneal, co-boss who was recently appointed to Blizzard, has already given up her post and even left the Blizzard company completely.
