Not the most pleasant story with Asmonglod and his rebellion against World of Warcraft and Blizzard does not subside. This time, Mark Kern, who led the development of the legendary MMORPG, added fuel to the fire.
Most recently, on Twitter, he accused the American giant of working with an eye solely on obtaining maximum profit, while there are practically no real gamers and enthusiasts among the developers: “we create games, they pay for them.” The phenomenal success of the project led to this, but now they hire professionals who are indifferent to what they are doing. But still, Kern recalled the words of Apple founder Steve Jobs about monetization killing innovation. Blizzard was so confident in its dominance in the market that it simply did not believe in the reality of the Asmongold riot and the subsequent exodus of dissatisfied people. But the game designer considers streamers to be the basis of modern marketing in the gaming industry.
As a final chord, Kern himself went to play Final Fantasy XIV from Square Enix and even hosted a broadcast on Twitch. Earlier, the developer has already called for “giving up on today’s Blizzard” and abandoning “soulless corporate remasters”, referring to Diablo II: Resurrected.
