Armored Mewtwo had been rumored to arrive in Pokémon Go and now it has finally been confirmed. Mewtwo is coming back to Pokémon Go raids but will be sporting a new look.
Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution
The release of Armored Mewtwo in Pokémon Go appears to align with the Japanese theatrical release of Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, a remake of Pokémon: The First Movie. Armored Mewtwo will appear in five-star raids across the world in Pokémon Go from July 10 through July 31. In addition, several new cosmetic customization items will be available to purchase for your trainer avatar.
It goes without saying Armored Mewtwo will be particularly difficult to defeat and catch. Pokemon Go trainers will need to team with multiple other players to have a chance of taking the mythical humanoid down. Being a psychic Pokemon, Mewtwo’s weakness is primarily ghost and dark-types. This means the best counters for Mewtwo are Tyranitar and Gengar.
Niantic and The Pokemon Company released a teaser video showing off the new Mewtwo in action. Beyond the teaser and the release date, not much else is known about this upcoming Pokemon GO event and this new version of Mewtwo.
